Knowing how to communicate through the media is a key aspect of advocacy today. This sequence of workshops will show you how to create public service announcements that quickly define issues and suggest solutions. Workshop 1: Getting Started with Digital Video and Public Service Announcements The first session provides an overview of how digital movies are made. Working in small teams, participants will get a chance to begin to create their own public service announcements! Workshop 2: Recording Your Public Service Announcement In this session, your group will continue working on the public service announcement that you began in the first workshop session. Working with crews of professional filmmakers, team members will learn how to capture video, practice on-camera interviews and experience a hands-on overview of video editing software to prepare for the final session. Workshop 3: Editing and Finishing Your Public Service Announcement In this final session, you will bring together all you have learned from previous sessions. Each team will work together to storyboard and edit the video interviews from Workshop 2, creating a public service announcement that expresses their own voices. You can share your team's public service announcement with everyone at the Global Summit and then take it home to show others in your community.
